DISCOVER THE FABULOUS HISTORY OF CLOS LUCIEN
AND ITS SECRETS ...
At the heart of the Montagne de Reims, between the green undulations of the Champagne hillsides, is a little corner of paradise called "Le Clos Lucien" within the family estate, tells a story of love and passion for viticulture, passed on from generation to generation.
Olivier, the winemaker, inherited this land from his ancestors. His hands, robust and calloused, testify to years of hard work. Yet it is in his eyes that one can read all the tenderness and pride he feels for his field. Every morning, before sunrise, Olivier walks through the vineyards, watching over them like children. But among these vineyards, there is a plot that holds a special place in his heart: "Le Clos Lucien".
Lucien, Olivier’s son, is only two years old. At his tender age, he is not yet aware of the legacy that awaits him, but he is already a source of inspiration and joy for his parents. They named this special plot in honor of their son, seeing in it the future of his family and his estate.
"Le Clos Lucien" is unique. It was here that Olivier decided to plant all the Champagne grape varieties, a true tribute to the diversity and richness of the region. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Arbane, Petit Meslier, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris bloom side by side, creating a vivid array of colours and textures.
Each grape variety has its history and particularities. Chardonnay, with its golden clusters, brings finesse and elegance. Pinot Noir, dark and robust, gives Champagne its structure and depth. Pinot Meunier, adds a touch of freshness and fruitiness. Rare grape varieties such as Arbane, Petit Meslier, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc grown with almost religious attention, recall ancient traditions and forgotten know-how.
Lucien, although still young, is already beginning to explore this fascinating world. His parents take him to the vineyards, to show him the wonders of nature. Lucien laughs when he sees the bunches of grapes, his little hands trying to catch the green leaves.
Harvest time is a real celebration at Clos Lucien. Family, friends and neighbours gather to reap the benefits of their work. Laughter and songs echo in the fresh autumn air, and even Lucien participates in his own way, his eyes shining with curiosity and excitement. The grapes are pressed carefully, and the must begins its magical transformation into champagne.
It is in the cellar, where the bottles rest patiently on their lees, that the magic operates. Olivier carefully monitors each step of the process, bringing his personal touch to each cuvée. He dreams of the day when Lucien will be big enough to understand and participate fully in this alchemy.
Each bottle of Clos Lucien champagne tells a story. That of a father and his young son, united by a common passion. That of a generous land, cultivated with love and respect. That of a tradition that continues, uniting the past and the future in each bubble that bursts, carrying in it the hope and dreams of generations to come.
